PG84 raises the shutters on Barcelona’s retail axis

The opening of the new Boss Halo Store reaffirms the appeal of Passeig de Gracia 84 as a benchmark within Barcelona’s most prestigious retail axis. A new showcase of fashion, design, and high-level experience that incorporates the best standards of innovation and retail expertise.

For Mimeisa Asset Management, owner of the building and responsible for its rehabilitation, the intervention has gone beyond updating a commercial space: it represents a commitment to further enhance its value and provide it with new sustainable and efficient solutions.

Recovering the heritage of Tous and Fargas

The rehabilitation of PG84 highlights the original design by Tous and Fargas, integrating iconic and design elements that form part of the cultural identity of the Catalan capital. The iconic “panot” welcomes visitors. Inspired by it, the interior decoration features this emblematic symbol in its visual concept, ranging from 3D figures to lighting design and shop windows. The open floor incorporates other local design elements, both in its structure and in the furniture and artistic pieces that decorate the new store.

A central wall running through the ground floor reinterprets the volta catalana through a contemporary vertical design, combined with a striking onyx wall. This pays tribute to Catalan architectural heritage. In addition, terracotta blocks and the vertical garden reflect the urban landscape surrounding the building, thanks to a selection of plants from the local environment. Together with the glazed façade, natural light plays a leading role in the design and conception of the space.

Complementing natural light, a suspended oak structure stretches across more than 30 square meters of ceiling, integrating a lighting system that provides continuity and natural warmth to the space.

Sustainability as the core of transformation

Every intervention is an opportunity to create spaces that generate a positive impact. The renovation followed LEED certification criteria, incorporating sustainable and locally sourced materials, efficient climate-control systems, and strategies that reduce energy consumption.

This commitment is part of Mimeisa’s ESG strategy to achieve a portfolio with positive environmental and social impact. The result is the creation of a retail space that not only meets the operational needs of an international flagship but also improves the building’s accessibility, comfort, and efficiency.

Following the intervention, PG84 has become one of only five Boss Halo Stores in Europe, consolidating the building as a global reference point. The building, previously awarded a FAD architecture prize, once again takes center stage on Barcelona’s most prestigious retail axis—this time as a showcase of fashion, design, and new experiences. With this project, we create value recovering the heritage while continuing to contribute to the city’s growth as an international retail hub.
