Mimeisa renews its MITECO seal and advances the decarbonisation of its portfolio

Mimeisa has renewed its registration in the MITECO Carbon Footprint, Offset and CO₂ Absorption Projects Register, a voluntary recognition that highlights the work of organisations that measure, reduce and offset their emissions.

For Mimeisa, this seal is part of a broader approach to asset management: one based on data, monitoring and concrete decisions. Measuring the carbon footprint makes it possible to identify the portfolio’s main sources of emissions and prioritise the actions with the greatest impact on efficiency, risk reduction and long-term value.

Reducing emissions through asset management

Over recent years, Mimeisa has calculated and verified its Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon footprint. This work has helped consolidate a progressive emissions reduction plan, with measures such as sourcing renewable energy, including environmental clauses in new lease agreements, improving energy efficiency, managing waste and promoting responsible water consumption.

The use of renewable energy has been one of the most relevant levers in reducing the carbon footprint, particularly in assets where the property has operational control. The company also continues to improve data collection and indicators in order to monitor the environmental performance of its buildings with increasing accuracy.

Offsetting what cannot yet be avoided

The renewal of the seal also includes the offsetting of emissions through a project registered with MITECO in the Monte Vecinal de Ventín, in Galicia. The initiative covers the forest restoration of 26.70 hectares and the planting of 26,787 trees, contributing to CO₂ absorption and the recovery of a natural environment.

This offsetting complements the reduction work, but does not replace it. Mimeisa’s priority remains to act on its assets, improve their environmental performance and move towards a more efficient and resilient portfolio.

An ESG strategy with a long-term vision

The MITECO seal reinforces Mimeisa’s commitment to responsible and measurable management. An approach focused on reducing the environmental impact of buildings, improving the user experience and protecting asset value in an increasingly demanding market.

Investing and managing with a long-term perspective means anticipating, measuring and acting. This recognition is another step in our roadmap towards a portfolio with positive impact and aligned with the Net Zero objective.
